Welcome to Guate Cafe!  Our coffee is grown on our own land in the mountains of Agua Dulce Cuilco, Huehuetenango, Guatemala.  We have the unique ability to control the quality of our coffee from the moment the seed is planted, through harvesting, roasting and all the way to the consumer.  We welcome you to browse our website to learn about our coffee.

We harvest 100% Arabica coffee beans at our family-owned and operated farm in Agua Dulce, Huehuetenango. Tucked between soaring mountains and lush greenery, the rural village is known for producing coffee beans with a mild sweetness and hints of cocoa, nut and cinnamon spice due to its high altitude of 6,000 feet. Each one of our coffee beans is hand-plucked, freshly-rinsed and sun-dried at our farm before being transported to our headquarters in Vancouver, Washington for slow roasting.

Guate Café started with Ellyar, who has dreamt of opening a coffee business of his own since he was a young boy. At the early age of 8, he learned how to harvest coffee beans at farms in his hometown, Agua Dulce. Ellyar worked at the coffee farms with his brothers to help support his mother and eleven siblings who were living in extreme poverty. He eventually purchased a coffee farm of his own in Agua Dulce and founded Guate Café. He now lives in Vancouver, Washington and along with his wife and three kids, make regular trips to Guatemala to monitor the farm and visit family.

We donate a portion of the profits to support Guatemalan families living in extreme poverty and provide scholarships for Guatemalan students through Waykan Coffee Ninos de Café.
